Background
The Ellis Library
As of 2015, the 600 titles produced by the late Ralph Ellis, and his son, Stephen, were acquired by Stellis Media Inc. Stephen Ellis is the President and owner of Stellis Media. The Library content is 75% natural history, including the longest running Canadian wildlife series, Profiles of Nature, with close to 200 episodes produced and aired worldwide for over 20 years.
The Production Arm
Group founder, the late Ralph C. Ellis, launched what was then KEG Productions Limited with partners Dan Gibson and Gerald Kedey in 1964. Maclean Hunter acquired a significant stake in the mid-1970's. Ellis Entertainment Corporation acquired 100% of the production group in the mid-1990's and re-branded it as Ellis Vision Inc.
The Distribution Arm
Ellis Releasing was the distribution division of Ellis Entertainment Corporation and served three different production sources with international release:
- All original programming from Ellis Vision:
- Third party Canadian producers; and
- Third party international producers, primarily British and Australian with exclusive Canadian distribution in English and French.
